After 14 gloomy years, Internet Explorer has lost its illegally obtained strangle-hold on the world's web browser market.

Two years ago, Firefox beat IE in Europe. Chrome beat IE in Asia earlier this year. And now, Chrome is the world's most used web browser.

However, like the metric system and worker's rights, the US is one of the last holdouts against shedding the painfully archaic status quo. So for now, web developers targeting US markets still need to work around IE's "innovative" ways of handling things as much as ever.
