In an article by the Japan Times a man is hoping to have Autocomplete results relating to his name removed because the results are related to criminal acts. It's a milestone because it may be the first time a court has ordered Google to remove specific terms from the search feature.
My take
Google's Autocomplete results are related only to what people tend to search after the previous search terms, and if that's the case then it's not even Google making the data set, it's the users searching for this man's name. Collecting data in a specific way and displaying it is not defamation, which is what I assume the defense is going for (without knowing a great deal about the legal system in Japan). It seams like this guy has two choices: Ask people to stop searching for him (not going to happen after the publicity from this case), or change his name. Either way, it's a tough job.
